This former mining town of 200 inhabitants lies on the shore of Lake Rosebery, a reservoir created in 1983, at the foot of Mount Farrell (alt. 711 m). In 1970, when the Pieman hydroelectric project was built (the river that rises from the lake and bears the nickname of Alexander Pierce - a convict convicted of cannibalism who was arrested near the mouth of the river after one of his escapes), Tullah was home to 2,500 inhabitants. Its role in hydroelectric development is featured in Richard Flanagan's 1997 novel "The Sound of One Hand Clapping". Please note: there's no petrol in Thulla.
