Travel Guide Siddhpur

This village of 53,000 souls, 115 km north of Ahmedabad, is mainly of architectural interest. In the early 19th century, the Dawoodi Bohras trading community began building numerous havelis. Built of wood, these mansions feature an architectural style typical of Siddhpur, with stucco facades, richly ornamented pillars and balconies protected by latticework. However, their distinctive feature is the facades painted in soft pastel colors (pink, mauve, lemon yellow...), topped with the owner's initials. The alleyways sheltering these havelis exude a nostalgic charm.
