102 km northwest of Ahmedabad. This small town is home to a temple dedicated to Surya, the sun god (Modhera Sun Temple, admission Rs. 300). While it's no match for the famous Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, it's no less interesting. Completely renovated, it consists of two structures whose walls feature numerous finely executed sculptures. In front of these two buildings stands an imposing tiered well, the Suryakunda. It is adorned with sculptures and small altars dedicated to Hindu deities. At the entrance to the temple, on the left, is a small museum displaying sculptures found on the site.
