North of Čakovec, amidst forests, valleys, hills, meadows and wine fields, one of the most picturesque landscapes in Međimurje is emerging. The Štrigova district consists of 10 villages and covers 44.79 km2. The medieval town (Štrigovčak) that had developed around the fortress has disappeared, destroyed by the Ottomans or a fire.
