North of Čakovec, amidst forests, valleys, hills, meadows and wine fields, one of the most picturesque landscapes in Međimurje is emerging. The Štrigova district consists of 10 villages and covers 44.79 km2. The medieval town (Štrigovčak) that had developed around the fortress has disappeared, destroyed by the Ottomans or a fire. Between 1738 and 1749, the Church of St. Jerome was built with two bell towers, which is reserved for cathedrals. The Međimurje wine route passes through this area famous for its white wine. In November, St. Martin's Day is celebrated, and in May, the New Wine Festival.www.strigova.info
