It is the highest peak in all of Zimbabwe. Capped by a flat, bare dome rising to 2,593 meters above sea level, it rises gently from the plain and seems barely higher than the surrounding mountains. The banality of its general appearance does not reduce the incredible power of fascination that it exerts on the local population. Mount Nyangani has an important religious significance in the eyes of the Shona, and is a sacred place that must be approached with respect. Climbing it is considered sacrilegious and few Zimbabweans dare to venture there. Despite all the taboos surrounding its curves, Mount Nyangani is a great place for a morning hike. The walk to the top is accessible to the less athletic and can be done in two hours. We start at 2 000 m of altitude and we climb only the last 600 m of difference in altitude. The path is well signposted from the parking lot, located about ten kilometers east of Lake Nyangwe. Nevertheless, as the weather conditions are often bad, it is recommended to report to the park offices before departure. In Nyangani, the fog can lift suddenly and the wind can blow violently when you least expect it. Do not stray from the marked trail. To get there, take the track that leaves the main road towards Rhodes Nyanga Hotel, take the first left and then the first right. After 5 km, turn right at the junction and the parking lot is 10 km further.
