Dicomano (5,700 inhabitants) is located north of the Sieve River, on the SS67. Its historic centre retains an ancient and characteristic appearance, especially in the main street with arcades supported by columns dating from the 17th century and some notable buildings. During the Second World War, Dicomano suffered heavy Allied bombing because of its proximity to the Gothic Line. The Gothic Line was a line of fortifications set up at the time of the retreat of the German occupation troops. Located along the Apennines, it was intended to cut off the progress of the Allied armies coming from the south
