Impruneta is the first stop on your Chianti itinerary, 14 km south of Florence, and can be reached by taking a detour from the Chiantigiana (N 222). The view - this road caresses the beautiful Tuscan hills and vineyards - is simply splendid. Since the 11th century, the village of Impruneta has been developing the craft ofterracotta. A tour, available at the tourist office, allows you to meet the many craftsmen, some of whom still work with wood-fired ovens. The visitor cannot miss the Basilica of Santa Maria, one of the most famous Marian sanctuaries in Tuscany.
