A Guarda (10,000 inhabitants) is the last town before the Portuguese border, bounded here by the Rio Miño. By ferry, it only takes about 15 minutes to reach Caminah (Portugal) from the A Pasaxe pier. Alternatively, you can cross the river at the Ponte da Amizade, 14 km upstream via the CG-4.2, to Vilanova de Cerveira (Portugal). The castro of Santa Trega, 3 km south of A Castro, on the summit of Mount Santa Tecla (alt. 341 m), is an archaeological site that is among the most visited castros. It dates from the 1st century BC. A small museum is located there.
