Arrival by car on the N3 from Valença do Minho to Viana do Castelo; by bus from Porto, Valença do Minho or Viana do Castelo. Caminha, a fortified town that defended Portugal's northern border against the Galicians, is a lovely town with old granite houses around the central square. The Torre do Relogio (Clock Tower), a continuation of the Rua Direita, can be visited with explanatory panels in Portuguese and English. At its top, there is a beautiful view of the city. You can also admire another bridge designed by Eiffel that allows you to cross the Rio Couva by train.
