Nestled on the banks of the Irrawady River between Mandalay and Bagan, Yandabo is a village of potters. Here, everyone lives from pottery and masters the almost meditative art of handling the earth. The kilns are set up in some of the village courtyards and can hold up to 2,500 pots. In the village, a primary school, a few street vendors, a café-grocery, a small monastery, about a hundred houses, that is to say 500 people, and all the houses as many as they are make pottery. The export is done by river. Thousands of pots are then piled up on a pier, nested one on top of the other, before supplying the country. The village is an authentic and pleasant stopover. It can also be a luxurious stopover, a beautiful escape, on the road to Bagan, stopping for one or two nights at the Yandabo Home. A small charming ecolodge, a real bubble of bewitching well-being in the heart of nature
