From Monywa, it is possible to make excursions to the national park which is about 100 km from the town. It will take a minimum of one day to leave very early, but the best is to stay there and spend at least one night to fully enjoy the place. And it will certainly be less tiring. To get there, cross the river by boat for 2,000 kyats and take a bus from Yin Mar Ben to Kapai. From Kapai, you will have to negotiate with a taxi to get there. In February, the national park is overrun by religious festivities. There is a big pilgrimage in the national park and you will be among the fervent pilgrims. This can be quite an unforgettable human experience though. Accommodation on site will cost just under ten dollars for one person in a bungalow, $15 for two people.
