Innerleithen is a small town near Peebles. The remains of an Iron Age fort can be seen atop Caerlee Hill and defensive ditches on Windy Knowe Hill. A Roman camp has also been discovered in the area. Walter Scott mentioned it in his novel Roman's Well. It is a city of culture with its printing museum, presenting one of the oldest presses still in operation, or, nearby, Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland. It is also a sporting city with a downhill mountain bike track renowned throughout the UK: 7stanes Innerleithen.
