Not far from the Italian border, the village of Obernberg am Brenner has a population of around 400 and lies at an altitude of 1,400 meters. The village is beautifully surrounded by the Tribulaun and Schwarze Wand massifs, the latter peaking at almost 3,000 meters. The Baroque church, built in 1760 by Tyrolean architect Franz de Paula Penz, is decorated with frescoes by Christoph Anton Mayr. At the foot of the Tribulaun, the Obernberg lake is the setting for an idyllic walk. Breathtaking walks, a real vacation. And don't forget to take your time: it's better to stay in one place for a few days than to run around all over the place!
