A small, flower-filled town which, like its Gold Country neighbors, has remained in its original state, with buildings dating back to the 1860s. During the Gold Rush, Nevada City was the most prosperous mining town and the largest in terms of capacity. A Historic Chinese Cemetery can be visited in the city, bearing witness to the many Asian workers who contributed greatly to the operation of the gold mines. A Chinese Quarter is dedicated to this community, which was very present in the past. Allow half a day for this pleasant little town.
