Located 150 km from Zacatecas, the village of Pinos has been an important stop on this branch of the Camino Real that connects Zacatecas to San Luis Potosi since the time of the great explorations and mining operations. It is also connected to the south by a road that runs in a straight line to the far north of the state of Guanajuato. The village itself was founded in 1594, during the explorations of the invaders who were desperate to find it.
