Thirty-five short kilometers from the capital, here is an area of Rocky Mountains and landlocked valleys that deserve a little more than a glance. The work of the INAH only began on the slopes and summit of Cerro Los Tecuanes in the early 2000s, in parallel with the excavations carried out at three other sites in the state, which demonstrate that the territory was not only a territory of passage for nomadic tribes in pre-Hispanic times, but also a place where an agricultural and sedentary population was established, having left the remains of small ceremonial centers surrounded by numerous residential units, as is the case here.
