Here is an original site, since it was discovered and partially cleared only since 1990, whereas it was cheerfully undermined by plunderers of all kinds. Its adopted name means "temple of the jaguar" in Maya, in reference to the felines represented in number on its large stucco fresco, the reason for your visit and which is nicknamed "the frieze of the universe". It has a long period of occupation (from 600 BC to the 13th century) and was influenced by the cities of the Petén between 250 and 600 AD (Calakmul, Nakbé, etc.). (Calakmul, Nakbé, El Mirador, Uaxactun, Tikal) before falling under the spell of the Rio Bec style (600-800 AD).
