The town is located in the center of Dalmatia, in a large plain in the hollow of the first series of mountain ranges of the Dinaric Alps. These impressive massifs, including the Mosor with its unique geological structure, seem to protect the town. It is an excellent starting point for hiking routes, little known by tourists and therefore more quiet. The area is attractive for its spectacular high altitude environment, flowering meadows and dense pine forest. From Split, excursions are organized to Dugopolje, the major interest being the Vranjača cave, the Kliss fortress.
