A small community of 17,000 inhabitants, Sevnica was the birthplace of Melanija Knavs, better known as Melania Trump. She lived here until her teens, before launching her modeling career in Ljubljana. Since the election of the 45th President of the United States, this small village between Celje and Zagreb has become popular with foreign tourists who come to discover the former First Lady's homeland. The castle, which dates back to the 12th century, and the Ajdovski archaeological park are well worth a visit in this otherwise mainly industrial corner of Slovenia. The famous Lisca lingerie brand is headquartered here.
