Takeo (Onsen) was a stopover town on the old road between Nagasaki and Kita-Kyushu. It once had many inns ready to welcome passengers. A large majestic gate tower, painted in vermilion, symbolizes the entrance to the town. Behind it is still the oldest public onsen in Japan. The Tonosama-yu bathtub is very famous, as it was designed for the lords of this area between the 18th and 19th centuries. Ureshino (Onsen) is a town known for its hot spring and for its green tea, Ureshino. This town attached to Takeo had many inns along the Ureshino River. Some of them are still visible, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.
