This beautiful medieval town of over 3,000 inhabitants is most popular for its imposing 11th-century castle. It has been the home of the Duke of Norfolk and his ancestors for over 850 years. The village, through which the River Arun flows, is equally fascinating, with its impressive neo-Gothic cathedral and lively town center. Stroll along its pretty streets, dotted with independent boutiques, cafés, restaurants and art galleries. One of the main events not to be missed is the Arundel Festival in August, featuring street theater, small concerts, circus and art exhibitions.
