This small commune in the French-speaking part of the Bernese Jura is just an hour's drive from Berne. It is best known for having become the most gourmet praline stop around Berne. It's here that the Bloch family have been developing their chocolate factory since 1935. It's easy to spot the place by the smell of chocolate wafting out of the factory: 3,700 tonnes - after all - made every year! Courtelary's star product is the famous Ragusa bar, which combines several thin layers of chocolate and pralines. Alternatively, take a stroll along the Suze River and its stone bridges.
