El Vendrell, with its almost 40,000 inhabitants, is nothing less than the capital of the Baix Penedès. It is both a wine-growing and a seaside town and has many assets. The old town is set back inland and has some interesting features such as the Guimerà museum or the Deu museum, but it is the seaside that is the most popular with visitors: the 7 kilometers of white sandy beach - Coma-Ruga, Sant Salvador and El Francàs - are a delight (at the peak of summer, it is crowded)! The house-museum of the great composer and musician, the late Pau Casals, is also located on the coast. El Vendrell also has some very good restaurants specializing in Mediterranean cuisine. For more information, go to the tourist office (Av. Brisamar, 1 - Coma-ruga) and to www.elvendrellturistic.com
