A small tropical paradise, where the cool waters of the Buritaca River, which descends from the mountains, mingle with the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. You can enjoy fresh fish, swim in the river, rent a kayak and admire the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada from the beach in the early morning. There are several luxury accommodations and more rustic cabañas for lodging by the sea or along the river. It is easy to get there by bus (1 hour and 15 minutes, $10,000) from the Mercado Público in Santa Marta. Then take a motorcycle cab to your hotel ($3-4,000, arrive before 6pm as it is more difficult to find a motorcycle cab after dark).
