This fishing village, built on a hillside, has become one of the strongholds of backpackers in the last dozen years. Located at 5 km from Santa Marta, it is reached by a road bordered by abrupt precipices, on one side, and by mountains with human-sized cactuses on the other. Taganga, overlooks a beautiful bay with clear and deep waters. Ta ganga means in indigenous language, the entrance(ta) of the sea(ganga). Its small beach is not among the most beautiful of the area, but it is easy to reach, on foot or by boat, the Playa Grande, more beautiful and shaded, with small typical restaurants very nice. Diving enthusiasts flock to Taganga because of the low prices of its diving centers (they would be the cheapest in South America) and the good overall conditions, especially in the waters of Tayrona Park. Here, apart from watching time go by and partying on weekends, you can dive, but also fish, or simply watch the fishermen spreading their endless nets on the beach, to extract fish to be tasted on the spot. The village is quiet, except at the end of the week when the town is on fire
