Situated in the area of Tierra de Peñaranda, this village of 500 inhabitants retains some historic monuments like the church dedicated to Notre-Dame des Neiges, built between the th and th centuries. During the celebrations of the Lunes de Aguas (Monday following Easter Monday), the Virgin of the Snow is brought into procession to the hermitage of the Santo Cristo. On that day, according to tradition, participants dance the jota in honour of Christ while crossing the waters of the river Gamo.
