Welcome to the tea capital! Here, we cannot forget that the region is the country's largest tea producer. A few kilometres before arriving the city, first indication: in addition to clementines and cauliflowers, sellers offer funny little brown balls, they are tea seeds. In Lahijan, small dried leaves are everywhere. In the heart of the city park, the fountain is the shape of a huge baculot that discharges its water into a tea glass. As for the only museum in the city, it is devoted to the famous beverage. In addition, some houses were built in a Chinese style with a roof from the crooked angles to the sky. But Lahijan is not just the capital of tea, it invites us to appreciate and discover the delicious atmosphere in the hinterland of the Caspian sea. With its tree-lined streets, its lake, its houses with sparkling tile roofs, a peaceful and unusual face from Iran reveals itself. On Friday morning, while the majority of the country is sleeping on this first day of the weekend, in Lahijan, we are active. The shops open one to one, from 9 a. m. to 10 p. m., and to p. m. sellers of fruit and vegetables, shoe and saddlers waiting for the client, an atmosphere that frankly contrasts with the lethargy that affects Tehran at the same time.Above all, we must not miss: A visit to Massouleh mountain village, 2 hours drive from Lahijan. There is a little fear that this little village jewel will not become too tourist!
