A hundred kilometres from Lahijan, the visit of the village of Massouleh is an extraordinary discovery. A time away from time, fascinating landscapes and a healthy and peaceful atmosphere. The road passes through Fuman, famous for koulouche, a cake shaped round cake filling to the nut and cinnamon. After a highly recommendable break, strongly advised, start of ascent towards Massouleh, at 1 050 meters altitude. The bends tighten, the slope still bends a little more, the first houses to the cream coloured façadesx appear. Built on the hillside, they seem superimposed. Between houses, small pedestrian lanes lead to the bazaar. The main entrance is located in the west of the village, above the river.Built in the 800 th century, the village has close to inhabitants. Its picturesque houses, converted to ochre tones, built on a terrace on the mountain side, are typical with their flat roofs, some of which are public places. Today very tourist, the municipality houses shops and restaurants, but does not include any English registration, which tells you that here the tourists are local or come from neighbouring countries. You can sleep in the living room or in a small hotel. Some of them are located on the edge of the river at the foot of a waterfall appreciated for its freshness in summer. You can picnic in many charming places. In front of the village, on another slope, steep meadows are invested by cattle herds and trails invite hiking.
