Travel Guide Jinvali

60 km from Tbilisi, en route to the legendary "military road" leading to Kazbegi and Russia, the fascinating Ananuri Basilica rises on the banks of the sapphire-coloured Jinvali Reservoir (Zhinvali). This reservoir looks more like a superb large natural lake. By public transport, you can take a marchroutka to Stepantsminda and stop here for another one. You can also take one to Passanaouri. Alternatively, take one to Jinvali and hike the 9 km between the two places, it's a nice walk. All these walks start from the Didubian railway station in Tbilisi, in the Mtskheta section.
