Travel Guide Mtirala

On the Mtirala mountain massif, which lies to the east of the coast between Makhindjaouri and Kobouleti, there is a new national park. These are remnants of the ancient Colchidian forest, rich in endogenous species. It's a good place for hiking; to get there, it's best to be brought by Jeep. The entrance to the park is at Tchakvistavi. To get there, you have to leave the coast road going down from the Cape Verde pass, just before Tchakvi when you come from Batoumi. The road goes down into the Tchakvistskali valley until the entrance of the park.From Tchakvistavi, one can hike to the Khino monastery, crossing the Kintrichi nature reserve, through the lush mountains.
