This small town on the M5, 60 km north of Nkhotakota, is only worth a stop for gas or cash. Dwangwa is mainly an agricultural town, known for its sugar cane production. There is a large sugar factory in the town, Illovo, the largest employer in the region. The company employs 12,000 people across the country and grows 1.8 million tons of sugar cane annually. The Nkhotakota National Park is located 30 kilometers from the city. The best place to stay in the area is the recently renovated Ngala Beach Lodge, which is located 20 km north.
