Not far from Calderitas, it is the largest Mayan site discovered in the bay of Chetumal. In 1937, the archaeologist Alberto Escalona Ramos named this site Oxtankah, which could mean "in the middle of three villages", "three neighborhoods" or "place of the nut-trees" called ox in Maya. The first groups settled there as early as the 7th century B.C. until it was abandoned around the year 1100. In its heyday, the city was open to the sea and the pre-Hispanic Caribbean routes and extended as far as the island of Tamalcab. Its visit, in the middle of the forest, is pleasant and restful. To couple with a stop in one of the restaurants at the entrance of the village.
