Located a short boat ride from the town of Corozal on the other side of the bay, this archaeological site may not be very large, but it is the only archaeological site in Belize to face the Caribbean Sea. It overlooks the bay of Corozal, which opens onto the larger bay of Chetumal. The sight of the ruins standing out against the backdrop of the turquoise-blue sea makes for a truly splendid site, not unlike the extraordinary site of Tulum, on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico.
