Close to the village of Sarteneja, this untouched 90 km² reserve has long been a playground for birdwatchers and other researchers, who are keen to discover the savannah, lowland forest and mangrove landscapes that provide a natural habitat for over 300 species of birds, 70 species of reptiles and amphibians, numerous discreet mammals and no fewer than 280 butterflies. You can visit for the day or, better still, stay on site for a more complete tour.
