With its 27,000 hectares, this reserve located in the center of the country is known for its brown sand savannahs as well as its dry white sand savannahs. This particular environment is one of the main reasons why the government designated the area as a reserve in 1986. The Coesewijne River flows through the reserve, and its inhabitants include otters, caimans and manatees, all of which you're sure to spot. In addition to this great diversity of plant and animal life, the reserve offers a wide variety of landscapes: swamps, savannahs, high-altitude dry forests... The reserve is accessible on foot or by boat.
