This village of 364 inhabitants is famous for its proximity to the source of the Seine and for the beauty of its medieval abbey. In the 6th century, the abbey was responsible for the village's development. A former Benedictine abbey that spread throughout the kingdom of France in the Middle Ages, it became royal under the reign of Louis XIV. Today, all that remains is the private abbey park with two cloister wings and the 18th-century palace, where the tourist office is located. Nestled in a hilly landscape, the village is also popular with hikers, who generally head for Saint-Martin-du-Mont.
