20 km north of Dijon, the famous crossword town is crossed by the Ignon, a tributary of the Tille, and has about 4,400 inhabitants. On one side the Langres plateau and on the other the agricultural plain of the Saône, "the town in two letters on the Tille" has developed thanks to water. A network of arms and reaches, five bridges and footbridges make for charming walks. The most picturesque places are in rue Gambetta. The lively centre gives pride of place to local produce, and the Confrérie de la Truffe de Bourgogne (Burgundy Truffle Brotherhood) has its quarters there. A biennial crossword festival is held in May, a nod to the cruciverbists!
