Located halfway between Monastir and Mahdia, set back from the coast. Moknin has the agitated atmosphere of a gigantic suburb. One drinks at the Café de la Jeunesse or at the other nameless café, near the Bank of Tunisia, which is even more crowded. The mosque of Sidi Bou Abana, dating from the 12th century, houses a small museum where you can admire ancient Korans, coins, Arabic calligraphy and jewelry. The city is also famous for its Berber costumes and pottery. There are also many Byzantine vestiges. Moknin is home to an archaeological and ethnographic museum that allows you to learn more about its history.
