The chronology of human occupation of the now abandoned village of Zekreet comes from surveys carried out by Danish (1959), English (1973) and French (1978-1981) archaeological missions. The ancient occupations date from the end of the5th millennium to the 3rd millennium, then an occupation took place in the 1st millennium BC. The Sassanid period is present (3rd-6th centuries). As for the modern period, the known traces are the fortresses built at the beginning of the 19th century. No trace of buildings has been recognized from the 15th to the 19th century, the people living here between phases of sedentarization and nomadization
