The Dukhan site, not far from the Gulf of Bahrain, 15 km west of Zekreet, is owned by Qatar Petroleum and is therefore not freely accessible. In fact, the small town is the result of the installation in 1938 of a camp of black gold seekers. Eureka! The wells follow one another for almost 80 km around Dukhan 1, the one that signed the energy birth certificate of modern Qatar at the end of the Second World War. In order to implement and supervise the various technical processes linked to the oil, to transport it by pipeline to Messaieed from where it will be exported, a large number of staff are needed. Explanation given to this gigantic hospital seen on the side of the road when you go to Zekreet. There, in the middle of nowhere, The Cuban Hospital inaugurated in January 2012 shines high the star of Castro's medicine: 75 beds, a dozen in maternity, scanner, emergency, blocks, 275 white coats. One can imagine the fear of the doctors from Diez de Octubre who arrived in this corner of the desert. In Qatar, as in the four corners of the world, the quality of the care provided by the compañeros works wonders and allows one of the only monetizable legacies of the comrades' regime to be valued. To find the beach, turn left at the entrance to the city, follow the coastal road for 9 km to Dukhan Water Sport. Beware of rocks in the water even if the beach is sandy.
