100 km south of Dammam and 70 km northeast of Al Hofuf, Uqair Beach is an archeological site that keeps the memory of the first port of the Persian Gulf. Naturally protected by sandbanks forming a bay, the site was chosen by merchants sailing the Gulf at least two centuries before our era. A fort and the old port attest to this occupation and testify to an important commercial activity. It is here that goods were unloaded before transiting through the oasis of Al Ahsa and reaching the caravan routes to the north and the Mediterranean. There is no public transportation to Uqair Beach. You will have to rent a vehicle or hire a guide.
