60 km from Sucre. The trek from the Cordillera de los Frailes to Maragua is one of the most popular around Sucre, and rightly so: the landscapes crossed are spectacular. The geological formation of the Maragua crater, with its multicolored rock strata, resembles a volcano crater. In its center is a cemetery. The villages of Maragua and Irumpa are inhabited by the Jalq'a, an indigenous community of weavers with ancestral techniques.
