Located east of Trinidad, in the department of Flores, Chamangá is a protected area that has been declared Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (SNAP). This area covers 12,000 hectares and includes grasslands, hills and some wetlands, with a slightly undulating relief. Chamangá is home to the largest area of rock art in the country, where one can observe handprints and other primitive paintings characterized by the use of abstract geometric lines. To visit the site, it is recommended to go to the tourist office of Trinidad to ask for a guide, because the way to reach it is very badly marked.
