Trinidad, located at the junction of Ruta 3 and Ruta 14, is the capital of the department of Flores, the last of the nineteen departments that make up Uruguay, created on December 30, 1885. The city has about 21,000 residents, while the total population of the department is 25,000 people. The main activity of the region is agriculture, especially cattle and sheep breeding. Trinidad produces just over 30% of the country's wool, accounting for half of the GDP of the wool industry and about 10% of the total GDP of the textile industry. Uruguay is the fourth largest producer of raw wool in the world.
