Yala is a small village 17 km from Jujuy on Route 9 that leads to Purmamarca. Located at about 1,600 m, it has about 2,000 inhabitants. It is a nice stop to enjoy San Salvador de Jujuy during the day and avoid the inconvenience of the city at night, however there is nothing special to do there and you are not yet in the Quebrada de Humahuaca. If you can, drive to Purmamarca to spend the night. But if the road takes you there, you will discover a very green landscape, the village is often the starting point of an excursion in the Yungas reserve. The village also has several lagoons.
