Travel Guide Parque Nacional El Rey

This park, created in 1948, covers 44,162 ha and hosts a particular flora of highland forest, transitional forest and a drier zone. There is a tropical climate here, with temperatures ranging between 22 and 25 °C. To get there, it is advisable to take Route 9 until the junction with Route 34, before continuing south to Route 5, at Lumbreras. Then, you have to follow the same road until the entrance of the park. It takes 169 km from Salta; the last 46 km are dirt roads, so it is recommended to have a 4x4. This inaccessibility helps to keep the park intact, and therefore the habitat of many animals.
