The first Europeans arrived here in 1497, driving out the Khoikhoi and San people. Today, located 120 km from Cape Town, Langebaan is a beautiful lagoon where it is good to come and spend a weekend or more. Travellers and South Africans go there especially for its white sandy beaches, which are very popular and very clean! But not only that, the area around the lagoon is equally attractive, with some 300 species of birds. For marine mammal enthusiasts, you should come in October and November: it is the ideal place to see whales.
