Created in 1991, it covers over 6 000 hectares in the hot and arid region of Médenine, on the edge of the Sahara, and about 50 km from the Town of Ben Gardane. The flora is varied: There is white artemisia, coloquinte, or balai. White truffle, a desert fungus greatly appreciated by local populations, appears after winter rains.Wildlife adapted to the special conditions of the park, including many insects, arachnids and reptiles such as the lizard and horn viper. Mammals include the gazelle gazelle, golden jackal, oryx antelope or starving fox.
