The Tripoli road rises in lacets to the entrance to the town of Nalout (270 km from Tripoli), which, in the west, is the massif of Jebel Nefousa. Nalout is only 65 km away from the Tunisian border. The rise of the road is accompanied by a series of revolutionary slogans of the Painted Green Book, many years ago, and a map of the route of the Great Artificial River decorating the sides of the mountain. At the end of the ascent, we see, on the right, the magnificent stump perched on the rocky spur (follow the elbow on the right) and on the left, the Hotel Nalout facing the other side.A statue of a fierce dinosaur has also recently welcomed visitors to the city's entrance. Let us reassure ourselves, no Jurassic Park on the horizon, the reptile is there to recall the recent discovery of Nalout in a quarry, in a career, of the lower limbs of a 70 million-year old theropod, so the end of the dinosaurs era. Less important discoveries of theropods from the end of the Cretaceous era were also made in Nalout in 1984 and in Jadou in 1960 (the region also delivered fragments of petrified forest).
