The information is grouped on Aignay. For much of the Middle Ages, Aignay-le-Duc and Baigneux-les-Juifs were indispensable steps on the road to the Champagne fairs. Kinds and commercial florissaient activities in the region. A Jewish colony received franchises in this village, hence the current name. Rich in this past, Baigneux reserves a few beautiful surprises in history and architecture, with, in particular, its three former doors: the Porte de Dijon, the door of Days and the door to the judges. At the turn of the streets, you will discover beautiful old houses such as the house Louis Béguin - house to the caryatids - the house Le Grand, the old seigneurial hotel, that of the Iron Cross. Rue de Quémigny, the rural family house offers an exhibition on the stone trades. There are villages and hamlets in the canton which have a common point: the exploitation of limestone. Their exploitation varies according to the degree of exploitation, and some have succeeded in conquering new horizons, as in Magny-Lambert, where the exploited stone was used for the coating of the pyramid of the Louvre in Paris. These local materials are found in buildings such as the Chaumont viaduct in Haute-Marne, the cathedral of Troyes, the Brussels courthouse.
